Nội dung tài liệu: This study investigates how incorporating the antioxidant probucol into chylomicron remnant-like particles (CRLPs) affects their uptake by human macrophages and the subsequent lipid accumulation within these cells. The research indicates that probucol-containing CRLPs (pCRLPs) are taken up by macrophages at a faster rate compared to CRLPs without probucol. This enhanced uptake, along with an increase in intracellular synthesis of triacylglycerol, leads to a significant rise in lipid accumulation in macrophages. The findings suggest that the protection of chylomicron remnants from oxidation, by antioxidants like probucol, enhances rather than inhibits their role in promoting lipid accumulation in macrophages. This mechanism is proposed as a potential contributor to atherosclerosis development, particularly when the clearance of remnants from circulation is delayed.
